Gran Canaria Events - August 2027

August is the month of patron-saint days: Mogan's own on the first Sunday, the Rama at Agaete on the 4th, and San Bartolome at Tunte on the 24th. All three dates are fixed a year ahead; the programmes around them are not.

WATCH & LISTEN

San Antonio el Grande, Mogan

Sunday 1 August 2027 - the first Sunday in August

Mogan's second fiesta in its patron's honour, and the one set by a rule rather than a date: it is held on the first Sunday in August, which in 2027 is the 1st. The vow behind it was made after a locust plague and the town has kept it for more than seventy years.

Where: Mogan, up the hill from the beach.

Why go: The quieter of Mogan's two fiestas, and the one you can plan a trip around: first Sunday in August, every year, no announcement needed.

Fiesta de la Rama, Agaete

Wednesday 4 August 2027; the Las Nieves fiesta follows on Thursday 5 August

Held every 4 August. Dancers carry branches down from the mountain and beat the sea with them, and the fiesta has been a Fiesta de Interes Turistico Nacional since 1972. The main Las Nieves fiesta is the next day.

Where: Agaete and Puerto de las Nieves, on the north-west coast.

Why go: Branches, drums and a town dancing to the sea - the most Canarian day of the year, and the reason to spend a night in the north-west instead of driving back.

Not yet published: the 2027 programme and timetable around the two days.

Fiestas de San Bartolome, Tunte

Tuesday 24 August 2027

The patron day of the old hill capital of San Bartolome de Tirajana, and a local holiday across the municipality.

Where: Tunte, up in the Tirajana basin.

Why go: The one August fiesta on this page that is not on the coast, and the whole municipality has the day off for it.

Not yet published: the 2027 programme - the council publishes it in August.
