Gran Canaria Events - December 2026

December is high season in the south: Christmas lights in the resorts, family visits, and daytime temperatures still in the low twenties. Two public holidays bookend the month and the year-end festival season runs through to New Year.

Festivals and listings

Maspalomas New Year festival season

Late December 2026 - dates provisional

The Yumbo Centre and the beach clubs at Playa del Ingles run their end-of-year festival across the last days of December. Sources differ on the exact run (one gives 27-31 December, another 28 December - 1 January), so confirm the programme with the organiser before booking around a specific night.

Where: Yumbo Centre and AxelBeach, Playa del Ingles

Why go: It is the island's biggest New Year party, and Amadores is 25 minutes away.

Christmas lights and nativity scenes

Throughout December 2026

Las Palmas and the southern resorts switch on their Christmas lights in early December, with belenes (nativity scenes) in churches and public buildings. Free to walk.

Why go: A calm evening out between beach days, and the city lights in Las Palmas are worth the drive.
